Children of Memory

by Adrian Tchaikovsky

In the distant future, humanity's last hope is the arkship Enkidu, captained by Heorest Holt, carrying survivors to a terraformed planet, Imir, for a fresh start. However, survival is arduous as much of the technological heritage has been forgotten. The appearance of mysterious strangers wielding advanced technology offers a beacon of hope, but also a perilous choice: accept their enigmatic aid with hidden costs, or defend the colony's precarious existence. As colonists grapple with distrust and the strangers confront unsettling lapses in time and memory, Imir's harsh realities and dark past threaten to ignite conflict. In 'Children of Memory', Tchaikovsky weaves a complex tale of human perseverance pitted against the unknown forces of a harsh universe—and the even deeper mysteries of time itself.
