Mostly Dead Things

by Kristen Arnett

In 'Mostly Dead Things', we delve into the Morton family's life of taxidermy and tumult. Following her father's suicide, Jessa-Lynn Morton takes over the failing family business. With each family member contending with their own demons, the shop becomes a stage for bizarre expressions of grief, particularly from Jessa's mother, who channels her sorrow into unsettling art. Jessa is also grappling with unrequited love for her brother's wife, Brynn, who has disappeared from their lives. As they all navigate the complexities of love, loss, and identity, Jessa seeks illicit means to keep the business afloat. But it's the unexpected development of their individual stories that might just knit the Mortons back together or unravel them completely.
