Domestic Violets

Domestic Violets

by Matthew Norman

Domestic Violets is a lively and sharply humorous novel that follows Tom Violet, a man muddling through a bewildering life at the threshold of his mid-thirties. Saddled with a stagnating job awash in corporate jargon, a struggling marriage, and an unacknowledged novel, Tom lives in the shadow of his father, a lauded author who just secured the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. His soul-crushing routine is further complicated by an acute case of puppy anxiety (courtesy of his anxious dog) and a budding, ill-advised infatuation with a colleague. In a bid to reclaim his joy, Tom embarks on an awkward and uproarious journey toward self-improvement, unraveling family drama, navigating romantic turmoils, and perhaps, writing his own story of success.
