The Serpent King

by Jeff Zentner

In the rural town of Forrestville, Tennessee, Dill, a high school senior, navigates the turbulent waters of youth with his best friends, Lydia and Travis. As the son of a disgraced Pentecostal minister, Dill contends with societal judgment and the burdens of his family legacy. Music and unspoken love for Lydia provide solace, yet graduation looms like a portent of change. The trio must confront the realities of their small-town existence while holding onto their dreams and each other, in a moving exploration of friendship, courage, and the struggle to overcome the past.
