Between Two Moons

by Aisha Abdel Gawad

In the neighborhood of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, twin sisters Amira and Lina are crossing the threshold into adulthood during the holy month of Ramadan. Excited for a summer of self-discovery, their plans are suddenly disrupted when their older brother returns from prison, bringing with him a secret that could shatter their family. As Bay Ridge becomes a hotspot for community turmoil triggered by a local business raid, the Arab community unites in protest while grappling with a destructive act of violence that risks tearing them apart. In the midst of escalating unrest, the twins face a pressing challenge: determining whom to trust in a world where every motive is suspect. 'Between Two Moons' offers readers a poignant exploration of identity, faith, and the complex tapestry of Muslim American life.
