Is This Tomorrow

by Caroline Leavitt

Set against the backdrop of 1956 America, 'Is This Tomorrow' weaves a compelling narrative around Ava Lark, a divorced, working mother who, along with her twelve-year-old son Lewis, confronts the prejudices of her Cold War-stricken community. When Lewis's friend Jimmy disappears, the neighborhood's simmering suspicions towards the outsider family reach a boiling point. Ava's beauty, divorce, and Jewish heritage further alienate her in the eyes of her unwelcoming neighbors. Years pass and the long-shrouded mystery of Jimmy's fate brings Lewis and another childhood friend, Rose, back together. They are faced with a heart-wrenching decision between uncovering a painful truth and protecting loved ones from a potentially devastating reality.
